The 1st Czech Pipes and Drums is a full pipes and drums band based in Prague in the Czech Republic, following in the traditions of the now unfortunately defunct 1st Bohemian Highland Pipers established in 1999. The band can perform en masse (including pipers and drummers) but can also provide solo pipers (played for the President of the Czech Republic, HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, Embassy of the United Kingdom to the Czech Republic, etc.) . The 1st Czech Pipes and Drums co-operate with the Friends of Scotland (Society) - an official non-profit-making body drawing together both native Scots and Czechs who appreciate Scotland, its culture and history - and the Caledonian Club, the best known Czech-Scottish Dance Group. In this connection, the 1st Czech Pipes and Drums offers you a combination of en masse Band playing and/or solo pipers, with Scotch Whisky tasting in addition (organized for example for the British Embassy in Prague, Visit Britain and leading companies in the Czech Republic, etc.), with Scottish Dancing displays and lessons as required.
Band members are dressed in the tradition of Scottish bagpiping, wearing kilts of the Czech National Tartan (officially registered at the Scottish Tartans Authority, No. 7474).
In addition, the 1st Czech Pipes and Drums co-operate with the 1st School of Bagpiping in the Czech Republic. Lessons in piping and drumming are available, as is the sale or hire of traditional Scottish dress and accessories.
